Gingelly oil (ellu enne / til tel) – the traditional oil for South Indian cooking, pickles and pooja.

Hampi Pure® Wood-Pressed Sesame Oil is pressed from sesame seeds and kept unrefined, with a rich golden colour and gentle nutty flavour.

Best for

  • Tamil and Karnataka cooking – kuzhambu, puliyogare, chutneys, idli podi
  • Pickles – it naturally keeps them fresh longer
  • Deepam and pooja
  • Weekly oil bath (abhyanga) and oil pulling

Why it is good for you

  • Contains natural antioxidants sesamin and sesamol, which also make it one of the most stable oils
  • A good balance of MUFA and PUFA fats
  • Unrefined – no chemicals, no bleaching

How to use

  • Cooking: use for tempering, gravies and drizzling over podi and rice
  • Pickles: use generously to cover the pickle
  • Oil bath: warm slightly, massage head and body, wait 30–60 minutes, then bathe

Why wood-pressed?

We press the seeds slowly in a traditional wooden ghani (marachekku) at low speed, so the oil stays cool and keeps its natural nutrients, aroma and taste. No chemicals, no refining, no bleaching, no preservatives – just seeds, pressed fresh in small batches.

FAQs

Can I use it for daily cooking?
Yes. Many families in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka cook with it every day.

Is the 200ml bottle the same oil?
Yes, the 200ml bottle is the same oil in a smaller size for massage and oil pulling.

Storage: Best before 12 months from packing. Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. A little natural sediment is normal.
