Kachi ghani black mustard oil – sharp, pungent and full of flavour, the way it should be.

Hampi Pure® Wood-Pressed Black Mustard Oil (sarson ka tel) is pressed from black mustard seeds and kept unrefined, with its natural strong aroma and golden colour.

Best for

  • North Indian and Bengali cooking – sabzis, fish curry, aloo, saag
  • Achaar and pickles
  • Winter body massage and baby massage (traditional use)
  • Anyone who misses the taste of real mustard oil

Why it is good for you

  • One of the few cooking oils with plant omega-3 (ALA)
  • Rich in MUFA and a good omega-3 to omega-6 balance
  • Unrefined – no chemicals, no bleaching

How to use

  • Heat until it just starts to smoke and turns lighter in colour, then lower the flame and add your tadka – this mellows the pungency
  • Use raw (unheated) only in small amounts, in pickles and chokha
  • Massage: warm slightly and apply

Why wood-pressed?

We press the seeds slowly in a traditional wooden ghani (marachekku) at low speed, so the oil stays cool and keeps its natural pungency, nutrients and aroma. No chemicals, no refining, no bleaching, no preservatives – pressed fresh in small batches.

FAQs

Why does it sting the nose and eyes?
That pungency comes from natural compounds in mustard seeds. It means the oil is real kachi ghani. Heating it first reduces it.

Black or Yellow mustard oil – which should I buy?
Black is sharper and traditional for North Indian and Bengali food. Yellow is milder – a good start if you are new to mustard oil.

Can I use it for frying?
Yes, it handles high heat well.

Storage: Best before 12 months from packing. Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
